When mothers are supported, babies, families, and communities thrive.
Our story
The idea for this foundation was born from the personal postpartum experience of the founder, Diane Schreiber and the idea that every mom needs a village.
Diane is a mother of three boys. With each child, the postpartum period grew harder. By the time her third son arrived, she was living in Texas — 2,000 miles away from family — with a husband whose new job kept him traveling, and two young children who still needed her every single day.
Her body was depleted. She was overwhelmed. She felt alone.
She was fortunate — family showed up, friends rallied, and her community carried her through. But as she moved through that season, one thought stayed with her: not every mother has that. What about the women who are new to their city, far from family, or simply too overwhelmed to know where to turn?
She looked around and found very little. The United States celebrates pregnancy, shows up for the birth, and then largely leaves mothers to figure out the hardest part on their own.
Diane became a postpartum doula so she could be that support for other women. And through that work, she realized the need was bigger than one person could meet. Not every mother can afford postpartum care. So she decided to find the funding, build the village, and bring support directly to the women who need it most.
That's how Care Beyond Birth Foundation came to be. Because every mother deserves a village.
